Health Services Team
Our CCUSD healthcare team is comprised of four School Nurses, two Licensed Vocational Nurses, and three Health Technicians, who work collaboratively across all school sites to provide care for our entire CCUSD school population.
Additionally, through a wonderful partnership between CCUSD and the Venice Family Clinic, we are fortunate to have the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center (SSYHC) on our campus. The SSYHC is a school-based health clinic where CCMS/CCHS students can make appointments for both physical-medical needs and mental health needs. A licensed doctor provides physical-medical services including: sports physicals, chronic health management, reproductive health, screenings, immunizations, etc. Mental health services are provided by Marriage and Family Therapist interns and Licensed Clinical Social Work interns operating under the guidance and supervision of a licensed mental health provider. The mental health services include: individual and/or group therapy for issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, struggles with family or peer relationships, loss/grief, LGBTQ+, and so much more.
My name is Sandy Aguila and I graduated from the West Coast University nursing program in 2016. My first nursing job was as a School Nurse for Culver City Unified School District that same year. I completed my School Nurse Credential in 2017 and received my MSN with School Nurse emphasis in 2020 at California State University, Fullerton. I am a big dog lover and I enjoy playing softball and spending time with family and friends. It is great to return to this community after graduating from Culver City High School in 2010.
My name is Amy Thiel and I earned a BSN at Mt. St. Mary's University and started work as a Registered Nurse in 2010. I worked on a cardiothoracic telemetry unit for Keck Medical Center of USC since 2010 and in 2016 I entered the specialty of school nursing and began work for CCUSD. I just completed the school nurse credential program at Cal State Fullerton and will be continuing on to receive my MSN. I have worked with all grade levels and I’m currently assigned to Farragut, Lin Howe and OCD Preschool. During my off time, I love to spend time with my family, as well as camping, running, traveling and reading.
My name is Kausar Abdul-Rauf. I received my LVN license in 2020 from American Career College and my Bachelors in Health Care Administration from Long Beach State University in 2016. I've had the opportunity to work in the clinical as well as administrative sector of healthcare and look forward to strengthening and growing my skills and experience within CCUSD. I have mostly worked at Skilled Nursing facilities which has enhanced as well as given me new knowledge as a nurse. I look forward to sharing them all with you while learning from you all. My son's birth has inspired me to focus my career in pediatrics, so being here with you all is not only a great opportunity for me but a wonderful blessing!
I went to Kent State University/BS in Physical Education, NYU in rehabilitation medicine working with children with congenital and traumatic disabilities. I have been a phlebotomist for 4 years and I’m a recent graduate of CDI as an LVN. I’m very excited to be a part of this team!
I am Denise Enoch and I’ve been the Health Technician for all 5 elementary schools in Culver City since 1999. Prior to this position I was an instructional aide for El Rincon Elementary School for 3 years. I presently live in Santa Monica and have two grown children that attended Lin Howe Elementary, Culver Middle, Culver Independent Studies and Culver City High School. During my free time, I enjoy reading all genres of books, going for walks and anything that has to do with music.
I was given the honor to be the Health Technician at CCHS since May, 2019. I have worked in various health care environments ranging from desk work to clinical work which includes skilled nursing facilities, Psychiatric Hospitals, and home health. I also took a roll as Community Health Specialist while interning at PIH Hospitals. I graduated from Santa Ana College and transferred later where I graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2018. I have two cats named Caspita and Manotas, and I love to play soccer which dates back all throughout high school and college.
I’ve been a part of the CCMS and CCHS health team as a Health Technician since 2009. I’ve enjoyed being a familiar face and providing caring and compassionate support for students over the years. I’ve served as a connector and liaison bridging the students to nurses, therapists, counselors as needed to meet each students needs. My educational background in Behavior Sciences has allowed me to identify needs in development of adolescents; through care, compassion, and understanding, I’ve had the fulfillment of aiding both CCMS and CCHS students. I’m also a parent of a CCUSD student and enjoy spending time with my family on hikes and watching movies.
