no one can come in right now okay then go get started good evening everyone we have about a hundred five participant so far but we only have an hour and we have tons of questions we want to definitely get started so welcome I hope that this is going to be a informative evening for you all my name is Leslie Lockhart I'm the superintendent of this awesome District and I will let the panelist introduce themselves I'm going to kind of kick it over to Jennifer thank you Leslie my name is Jennifer sleeping County assistant superintendent for human resources and I will toss over to Diana good evening everyone I'm Diana Castro I'm the coordinator of health services for the district popcorn to any good evening I made me feel school nurse Evelyn how in Farragut thanks for being here tonight Jessica just you and me when I'm with El Marino in the middle school and high school popcorn to Sandy hi everyone my name is Sandy how you are one of the school nurses for Culver City High School Middle School in La by owner okay thank you everyone so we have received over 100 questions so I'm going to guess that it's highly possible that your questions will be answered so what we're going to do is we're going to go through all the question and then if there's some questions at the end then I guess we can kind of use the raise hand feature or maybe chat feature but nevertheless will get sent you with the question so Diana what kind of magazines are available so the first covid-19 vaccines to be available in the US are messenger RNA vaccines or mRNA vaccines and the way mRNA vaccines work is 1 * injected into your body they tell your cells to build this special Spike protein that is similar to the covered by Iris and it triggers your body to start making antibodies to that and it's your a natural immune response the injected mRNA into your body it actually doesn't interact with or affect the DNA in your cells and it breaks down very quickly after they are there message usually in about twenty-four hours so those are the two kinds of vaccines that we have right now they're both mRNA so with that in mind Amy which vaccine is better to get both Pfizer and Moderne vaccines have about the same at the casino rates of 94 95% so the recommendation is to take whichever vaccine is available to you there's no product preferred for one group of people over another for your second dose you should and you need to get the vaccine that is made by the same manufacturer as the first dose you got so how long can I wait before I get the second dose in like what's the time frame for the shot 1 days after getting the Pfizer vaccine and 28 days after the Moderne vaccine you can get either of them up to 4 days early it is recommended to get it as close to the state of time as possible though and although it is okay for you to delay it up to 42 days the advocacy of delaying beyond that is still being studied if a vaccine is delayed beyond the recommended interval the vaccine series is still considered complete will either of these vaccines give me covid Sandy no actually the speiser and the moderna vaccines do not have the virus in it so you can not get covid-19 vaccine and you do not become contagious to other from the vaccine and then it how soon do I start to have protection once I have the vaccine how effective is a vaccine how long will it last yeah that's a great question you started what protection about one to two weeks after you get your first dose that protection increases to around 94 to 95% after about 10 to 14 days after you get your second dose so limited data is available about how effective when single doses so it's really important to complete the second dose and you see that you get a large amount of protection after that second toes so far away you know about how long they last is that there are studies that show four months after the vaccine people are still showing high levels of immunity and we don't know exactly how long they last but experts are saying it will likely last the effects of the vaccine will last for at least 6 months to a year or more in the future they may recommend like a you know a flu vaccine and every year but more to come on that so I can get the two vaccines the first and the second dose I meet is there a booster that's needed after you get that second dose the need for booster doses for mRNA vaccines hasn't been established yet right now no additional doses beyond the two-dose primary series are recommended at this time what is considering the possibility of a booster in the future due to be variant covid strains I'm glad you brought the baron cuz I think that a lot of people are shown concern about that so does a vaccine work again Anthony Berry into the virus Diana that's a lot for a population and even get the variance T vaccine prevent a lot of mild and moderate cases according to the current data gathered so far Health officials say that these vaccines are effective against preventing severe Co visit impossible stations and deaths however data is still being collected Sandy are there any other vaccines beside Pfizer and moderna yeah there are other vaccines being studies or Johnson and Johnson are actually may receive its emergency use authorization in the coming weeks they have a single dose of the vaccine which contains the weekend of coronavirus trains that's different than the MRNA vaccine that we have now it has been shown to be effective at preventing severe disease with hepatitis C rates between 66 and 85% there's also that novavax and AstraZeneca that may also be available soon in the US felt we've had talking about an old review of vaccines actual getting vaccinated I'm Diana other things I need to know about taking medications before I get back deleted yes so there are a few things to know before you get back to needed people who take dinners or if you take a daily aspirin it's still okay for you to get the covid-19 but you might be at an increased risk for bleeding at the injection site so you would want to just let us know if you're on a blood thinner or taking daily we are going to ask you to just seen a hold pressure over that injection site for a couple of minutes after you get the vaccine the other couple of things that you know sometimes happen people think that they should take Tylenol or Ibuprofen to help prevent pain before the in since it is not recommended for the covid-19 to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen before getting vaccinated because they have seen that they can limit your immune response so the idea would be to not take any Tylenol or have him before you get your vaccine and then if you do have side effects that appear within a couple of days after getting your vaccine it is okay to take the Tylenol or Ibuprofen to help you manage those symptoms but not as a preventative and in the last would be talking about antihistamines we're going to talk a little bit more about allergies and allergic reactions and things later but if you're thinking about taking an antihistamine before getting the vaccine it is not recommended it can it doesn't prevent you from having a severe anaphylactic reaction and in fact it may mask some of the symptoms that could help us know sooner that you're starting to have a reaction at all to the back seat so we really don't want you to take any antihistamines before you get the vaccine those are the three probably big questions I think that we had about that okay and that's applicable actually just went add-on that's applicable to all the Moderne NYC it is yes thank you for clarifying if I was in close contact with someone who is covid-19 and was told to quarantine do I have to wait to get my vaccine yes yes you need to complete a quarantine first so wait 10 days before you get the vaccine this just ensures that you don't have an active infection and then run the risk of infecting others when you go get the vaccine Jessica I already had someone when the questions is I already had my currently have a colon infection should I still get back to Maiden the data from clinical trials indicate that the covid-19 vaccines can safely be given to persons with evidence of a prior covid-19 infection vaccination should be offered two persons regardless of history of infection it is true that after covid-19 faction you may have at least 90 days of immunity vaccination is still recommended once you have recovered if you are currently infected with covid-19 you should wait until your isolation. Over until you can get vaccinated this is waiting at least 10 days in the start of infection and symptoms have improved this recommendation also applies to person to develop Stars code to infection after the first dose of before receipt of the second dose and I see that there's a couple of questions coming into the chat just to kind of make an announcement again the questions that the the team is already received our there's a lot of them so it may actually cover your question and so we're going to take questions at the end so it's fine to put them in the chat by just want to let you know that we're not ignoring what questions does were waiting till the end because it may already be answered so Sandy can I still develop covid-19 after my first dose sorry that good question a few small Studies have shown some protection about 50% two weeks after the first dose it's not as much as a protection acquired after the second dose so you may still develop infection if appropriate precautions are not being met in between either taking the first and the second dose on protection at a high degree occurs and 14 days after the second dose thank you. I know that there are a lot of people who believe this but they can think by after I get the covid-19 that I don't have to do this whole six staying or math thing so can I stop wearing my mask after getting a vaccine or can I still spread covid-19 being vaccinated okay I'll take that one I'll go you know getting the vaccine it may prevent you from getting sick it really isn't known fully yet if you can still carry and transmit the virus to others do it until we really understand a little bit more about how the vaccine is working to prevent transmitted and until more people are vaccinated it's really important to continue with all the precautions like wearing a mask and physically distancing and washing your hands it just will really help us make sure we can get those trance turn lights down play me if I'm already vaccinated and exposed to someone who is Kodak pocket event do I still have to quarantine yes yes since there is I did information about possible asymptomatic transmission and the new variants you will need to quarantine for 10 days after you've been exposed to a positive case Jessica if you're vaccinated and work alongside someone who is not this is lower your percentage of catching Khalid Abdul I want you get your second dose of the code vaccine you will have about 95% protection from getting a code infection so there was the weather is around you choose to do you have a good layer protection and then Sandy if I get vaccinated and then have to test for covid-19 Bossier when I just test positive because of the vaccine so I actually your test talk about vaccine safety Diana how do we know these vaccines are safe when they are yeah we are getting that question a lot and I think it's important for people to know that the covered back scenes that we have now and any vaccines that are coming out in the next 10 months I've been tested in large clinical trials to make sure that they met all the safety standards many people were recruited to participate in the trials to see how the vaccines offer protection to people that fall into different categories like different ages races ethnicities and even a lot of people with different underlying medical conditions and especially now since we've sort of expanded that into the millions of people who've been vaccinated now who weren't even part of the trials we have a lot more data that we are using tint to use in our clinical decision-making about when it's safe and when it's not to give the vaccine when considering safety it's important also to think about the potential serious risk of covid-19 infection compared to what is currently known about the safety of the vaccines so it's in a lot of cases it's safer to get the vaccine then it would be for those people actually get a Coban infection Amy what are the side effects and you know after I'm vaccinated if I have a fast effects when should I call my doctor after getting the vaccine can Xbox some local symptoms and some systemic symptoms local symptoms can include pain swelling and redness at the injection site also swollen nodes under the armpit of the same are of the same side that of those vaccinated Arm System Exempted atoms can include low grade fever fatigue headache body aches and chills keep in mind that these side effects are showing us that the immune system is responding to the vaccine and doing what it needs to do there and with these vaccines so it's okay to go ahead and you should go ahead and complete the vaccine series If you experience high fever or shortness of breath that is something that should be reported to your doctor these are not side effects of the vaccine they are symptoms of covid-19 most of the systemic post vaccination symptoms occur within the first three days of vaccinations and then they resolved within 1 to 3 days of onset okay thank you Jessica how do I report side effects serious side effects to cover to the colored boxing and should be like any other vaccine it triggers your response in your body so given that covid-19 through still relatively new it just isn't recommended that you receive any other kinds of vaccines including flu or any other types of vaccine for at least two weeks before you get the covid-19 and then you should wait at least 2 weeks after your second dose of the covid-19 before you get any any additional vaccine it also will allow us to monitor side effects and know that it wasn't specifically play it to the covid-19 and not related to another vaccine or an interaction between any combination of vaccines so the recommendation is to just hold off on getting any other vaccines for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after you've gotten your coat who should not get the vaccine okay according to the CDC anyone with anaphylactic history to the covid-19 should not receive the code vaccine so in other words if you've had a severe allergic reaction like anaphylaxis after a previous dose of the covid-19 box or any of its components then you don't want to get the vaccine okay well we'll be sending out an FAQ and there will be a link included there was a list of the ingredients if you want to take a look at the ingredients before you get the vaccine the other contraindication is if you've ever had an immediate allergic reaction of any severity to a previous dose of covid-19 vaccine or any of its ingredients these folks should be evaluated by a doctor by an allergist immunologist who can determine whether or not it is safe for this person to receive the vaccine thank you I'm Jessica is the vaccine safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding mother pregnancy and are breastfeeding are contraindications to the vaccine there is little data on its safety for the population because they were not included in the original studies but pregnant women have a greater risk of severe illness hospitals or death if they get sick with covid-19 recommends vaccinating this population I'm if you are pregnant and think about getting vaccinated then you should consult with your doctor Sandy if I have an underlying Medical Jason like diabetes or high blood pressure or an autoimmune disorder is it safe for me to get a covid-19 and yes sure the covid-19 vaccines may be administered to persons with under find medical conditions who have no contraindications to the vaccination so that's if you have no history of anaphylaxis to the components of the vaccine liking you had just mentioned I'm clinical trials show similar safety and efficacy and persons with some underlying medical conditions compared to those people without medical conditions so people who have underlying health conditions have greater risk of severe disease and hospitalization death from the kubotan fection so vaccination is recommended in this population I'm playing at what if I've had an anaphylactic reaction to another vaccine so I'm assuming that's another vaccine other than the cove you know right so yeah if you've had a history of an immediate allergic reaction to any other vaccine or any kind of injected therapy it is listed as a precaution that you might not get the covered back scene especially in and out Clinic like at a school site but your doctor may be able to still offer you the vaccine they just might want to keep you under close observation and a hospital so it would definitely be something to talk to your doctor about it's not a contraindication meaning you may still be able to get it we were just want to take some special precautions so play because these people should be counseled about the fact that we just don't know what the risks might be for them if they've already had a severe response to another vaccine so I would say talk to your doctor if you've ever had any kind of reaction to another vaccine and see what they might be able to to recommend for you in terms of location you're going to somebody's bigger pods like at Dodger Stadium or the Forum you know might not best place for you to to get your vaccination so will Amy what about other kinds allergies should I get the Cove a good question directions including severe allergic reactions that are not related to vaccines these would be allergies to like seafood like eggs not shrimp for gelatin Venom latex even environmental allergies allergies to oral medications none of these are contraindications or precautions to vaccination with either either of the covid-19 what I was talking earlier about having a severe reaction to the coded. Scene I want to just mention the symptoms a person could experience with those an immediate severe allergic reaction can include hives and itching swelling respiratory distress rapid pulse vomiting and diarrhea and any of these can occur within about four hours following the administration of the vaccine so if you do experience any of these symptoms of acid reaction and you should seek emergency medical care right away okay so that's I just want to make sure everybody knows you know what they're what they're looking for really what we're talking about a severe allergic reaction I'm Jessica do I have to stay after I get my covid-19 yes you will need to stay in case you begin to have any symptoms of a severe allergic reaction person in the history of an immediate allergic reaction of any server B12 vaccine or injectable therapy and persons with a history of anaphylaxis due to any cause will be observed for 30 minutes all of the persons will be observed for 15 minutes and Sandy I've heard some things in the news about related to getting the vaccine or any of these things true a majority of the deaths reported were in people living in long-term care facilities and authorities have not directly linked the cause of death to the covid-19 nation as there was some time that had passed between them getting vaccinated and Beth and many of those who died had other possible causes of death as well okay so now we're going to move on to the section called how to get your vaccine so Amy when will I know when I can get my vaccine when everybody wants to know Los Angeles County anticipates the education sector will be eligible this month as part of phase 1 B you can register at the website called my turn. Ca.gov this website then we'll notify you when you're eligible to receive a vaccine and then when you are eligible for a vaccine you can you can come to our vaccination site or the county has a website that can help you find vaccination appointment and just you brought this up about the fact that we will be a vaccination site so we've been approved which is great news for cc50 we're also continuing to work other medical Partners is a possibility so we're going to kind of go on to the ccusd plan now Jennifer is the district going to require staff to get the vaccine thank you I'm I'm excited to get to talk but I feel like my throat is a little Clear My Throat by the way I've learned a lot and I'm really glad to be on this call regardless of being a panelist I'm so can we require we we can't require anyone to get vaccinations at this time vaccinations are vaccines that are under emergency is authorizations cannot be mandated so what that will look like down the road we still don't know but in the here and now we are unable to mandate the vaccinations Diana how soon will CCSD be able to offer Cobra vaccines to staff and injections if those injections in their arm your hearing a lot of public healthy one injections in arms you know Superman. Lockhart said we are working very closely with LA County Department Public Health and other local Healthcare Providers to obtain the vaccines as soon as possible I just want to be really clear as you all have power I seen and heard in the news there are huge short balls in vaccine shortages in vaccine availability across the country and now in California the governor in our recently announced that Blue Shield involved in the cupboard vaccine distribution here and they have not released any information to any of the local governments or local public health departments or even current recipients of the vaccines the providers who are giving vaccines already they have given no indications as to how they're going to roll out this plan yet so we're still waiting on a lot of information to kind of trickle-down from the governor through Blue Shield to Public Health and to the current providers so that we can try to determine where when and where we might be able to get our supply of vaccines from but they're just a lot of unknowns what I can tell you is that soon as we have access to vaccines we are ready to start giving them so we have every plan is set ready to go we just need the vaccines to get here so we will get them in your arms as soon as we get them so when we do get those vaccines which ran the vaccine will we be offering we actually don't know at this time just like we don't know who is going to buy them actually our supplier is the one who will have the control over which vaccines we receive so the recommendation is to just take whichever vaccine becomes available I just a small a commercial there was a survey that was sent out to staff as far as who is interested in receiving the vaccine how we received 475 responses broken down 294th he responded 134 classified 33 management and 7in identify grouped but all those 475 400 said yes and 22 and already received them 10 and 18 or no and 49 feel like it's a maybe but they still have questions so speaks to why we're having the town hall will priority given to staff working on site the question we are hopeful that we will get enough back seats applied to be able to administer to all staff without having to create additional two years of priority if however we receive a limited number of vaccines that will not allow it to vaccinate interested staff we will give priority to those staff members on site first this includes rocd staff as well Sandy will my spouse significant other family members be able to get their vaccine from CC 32 we are only allowed to administer vaccines following the cheers that have been set forth by the state So the plan is to vaccinate ccusd Staff first Wednesday you're open we have the capacity to vaccinate our stuff quickly and a matter of a couple of Clinic days and then once our staff is vaccinated we will open our Clinic the rest of the community including family man I swear eligible Amy what information will we need to provide in order to get a code vaccine from the district will need to show us your ccusd badge when you check in for your also you can go anywhere for your vaccine so if you decide to go to a provider outside of ccusd that's totally fine be prepared to show your badge and a current pay stub to prove your eligibility you may have heard about some people getting letters for proof of employment or proof of occupation but providers can no longer accept the letters as proof of employment and occupation so that means an appointment with Jennifer and human resources to make sure you have a batch I just texted Diana Castro actually oh my gosh I'm glad I heard that answer so I'm going to guess there's a lot of employees have been with the district for a number of years who have no idea where their badge is Leslie Lockhart is raising your hand as you can imagine though I'm going to just start a passenger to be patient with us let me talk to my team and we have a staff meeting on Friday so let me talk to my team about the best way to sort of set up times 4 will come in because obviously we don't want people just showing up the shop as we are under the same protocols and guidelines as everyone else so we need to limit limit interaction and really ensure that we've got the badge area set up in a way that is going to be a Freedom safe for everybody in that the members of my staff are prepared and ready to do that and I think typically there is a fee when you lost your badge and you need a new one I think we can probably agree we want to make sure everyone has a badge will get something out of my department to let people know how to sign up for appointments if they need a bed let me just say I and definitely I think you know if we need to rethink that for what happens within the district we certainly can you know maybe we can just get an employee roster for each side and we could use that as long as we have some kind of verification from within the district I don't personally need a badge badge but it just so staff know if they go outside of ccusd I take out something and try to stay there you know they in education sector they will ask for that badge so if we're providing it we may have some workarounds to that and we would certainly want to do whatever we can do to accommodate all of our staff in order to not put anyone else I don't want an overlooked right now will talk about it tomorrow. Okay that we will be able to get both doses from the district if I got the first dose somewhere else can I get my second dose from CCSD so we are being told that we will have enough vaccines going forward to provide two doses to off. If you get your first dose with another site you can get your second dose with us as long as the manufacturer is the same the for example if your first dose was moderna no matter where you bought it just make sure your second dose is also moderna just make sure to bring your vaccination card with you so we always recommend people on when are you ever going to proof of something right now especially if it's available to take a picture of it front and back and this question will really be better answered once we know exactly which vaccine ccusd will receive Jennifer what happens if we get sick from the vaccine are we required to use her sick time great right now so these are complicated questions but right now the answer is yes and please we need to use their own sick time however I do know we're in the middle of negotiations around all of these things so I have no doubt that will work with our unions on trying to come up with how we can support staff who maybe get sick from as a side effect to the vaccination I need to lock my door so there that's one and then I I will sort of say in addition to that I think I'll I'll be talkin to Diana and the staff about how we roll out the administration because I I do think we'll have to should we have an adequate plan for supporting substitute coverage or asynchronous plans for the day or how we're going to kind of work around if an employee does get sick how we're going to ensure adequate coverage because I heard the 20% second dose and 20% 400 teachers is more than we have Subs available so we'll have to probably figure out how that's going to work out best Sandy will students be required to get a covid-19 before returning to school vaccines only Pfizer is available to adolescent 16 years of age and older the moderna is available for 18 years and older so there are several studies under weighing evaluating the safety of the back Inns in children as young as 12 but that's not out yet so it is unlikely that there will be a coded mandated vaccine for children anytime soon hey Jennifer if I have a medical note on file that prevents me from coming back onto campus at this time am I forced to return whether or not I get vaccinated they're so we do have a lot of employees with medical note on file and all of those are handled on an individual basis right so regardless of these are really two separate issues so whether or not you've been vaccinated is separate from the medical file we might have somebody who's out because they had surgery and it has nothing to do with covet and of course we're not going to force them return to work so it really really is between you and your medical provider again regardless of vaccinations if your medical provider has said that it's not safe for you to be on campus or you're off work due to do some other medical condition that. Conversations between you and your medical provider and if we need Clarity will seek that so again it's really individual but the vaccination will not necessarily you know make a diff if you let medical Know Places you off work at places you off work Diana can you please tell us about the logistics of when where and how the vaccines will be offered to staff yeah so our plan is that will set up one excite it'll be located just outside the nurse's office on the Culver City Middle School high school campus they'll be an online platform where staff will have to pre-register for an appointment and fill out some information antonline and up on the day of their appointment at their scheduled appointment time and they'll have access to in a parking in the lot or on the surrounding streets and they were directed to walk up to the entrance so this is going to be our first non drive-through thing this year since go visit our city but we really felt like it was an important step for us to take to make it a walk up Clinic once you're in the queue then stop will be checked in and directed to a separate waiting area to get their vaccine don't get vaccinated and then everybody again it's already been stated I'll just say again please plan on staying least 15 minutes after your vaccine there's an observation. There where we need to monitor you for any immediate signs of of the vaccination I'm if you're having any side effects post vaccination waiting area will be in the area in front of the high school and again we're trying to take into account also that people have different working hours in the district and different shifts we will do our very best to offer vaccines over several days and times that hopefully will meet everyone's availability and will be able to cover all the interested staff to get vaccinated thank you Jennifer can we choose to continue to work virtually from home even if we get the covid-19 again this is one of those questions were going to say these are too isolated issues are our District's decisions about whether or not we're bringing students back to campus at cetera are really separate from vaccination status so we we use the guidance from the state guidance from the county we have approved Etc and those things actually have given us authorization to reopen with are waivers probably now we're holding off right now we have our small groups on campus already think it's important to acknowledge in this conversation that we have a lot of staff already working on campus and there has not been a vaccine a lot of stuff who thank you very much like our food services and our custodial Staffing rocd stop you've been on campus really threw out that the pandemic and without vaccinations in terms of reopening we're really looking at what those protocols and guidelines are coming from the state and County and making sure that were in line with those in terms of bringing students and staff additional staff an additional students back onto campus so that's really separate from the vaccination in terms of the question sort of weird and interesting Landing it sort of can I choose to work remotely and just to be really clear we're in distance learning for most of our our teaching staff right now I'm not necessarily by choice for any of us but just because of the pandemic staff who if and when we returned with students to campus staff who would like to be considered for a run go to Simon it's not really a choice as much as it is a request that it will be considered and certainly are our staff that have that are at highest risk and have documentation for that are under the law of the first stuff that we have to come and then beyond that you know if there are staff who would prefer to continue working remotely that would really be dependent upon what our needs are and we can't protect into the future what our needs are going to be in terms of Staffing on campus but but you know just keeping in mind that those are very separate sort of very separate things I know all of our nurses and also thank you are a group that have been on campus this whole time I think they've now maybe they've all been able to be vaccinated but they've been working on campus eating prior to I'm just going to add on to that question so that what are the conditions that need to be Bargains and then what options are available to those who can't take the vaccine or refuse to take the vaccine Okay so how to separate all that out to in terms of what needs to be bargained typically has a little bit complicated I don't want to get too in the weeds of each our world but typically things that need to be bargained are more like the impact of of Addison so for example if we as a district stay okay on March 1st we're reopening rtk through second grade because we have the waiver then what we what is subject of bargaining out is the impact on our staff of that of that District of C and so this I think when we talked about the vaccination something that we might bargain in terms of impact might be Can employees can we get the vaccination during our contractual hours and you know you know we probably like that seems like pretty logical right but that but if the district said no way than the union would have course they will we think we should and weed haggling and come up come to terms with that that's not an issue that I think there'll be a hangover other issues would be things like things that were already asked are there will we have to use our own sick days or will the district cover any illness if we have side effects to the vaccination that would have to be something that's negotiated so some of the impact it those things and in relation to the vaccine in terms of Staff who either are unable to get the vaccination if someone's unable to get the vaccination that doesn't necessarily mean that they work on campus I again I want to be really clear cuz it is again pretty complicated I always use myself in conversations around this or I have asthma but I won't get a note from my doctor my doctor. It's not I'm not in a situation where I would be precluded from coming to work but I of course have to follow the CDC guidelines around wearing a mask in 62 social distancing in that so just if someone has is unable to get the vaccination time it does not necessarily mean that they can't be on again that's a conversation between an employee and their medical provider about what they are and are not able to do and then the conversation between them and me in terms of what the district can or cannot accommodate under the law and then likewise if someone has decided that they are not going to get the vaccination that's certainly someone's choice but it again doesn't impact if we if you are a custodian and you say you don't want to get vaccinations ragar is your job is on campus and we need you on campus and so those things don't necessarily overlap in that way I hope that answered the answer the question Okay so I have about 12 minutes and we have some questions in the chat a lot of them have been answered so I'm just going to read them and if they've been answered then say yeah we answer that one I'm just so everyone knows that this is being rude Hornets tell if there is something that you missed you'll be able to cuss this recording will post it will be posted on the the health website or tell section all right so here we go one question is it possible to get the vaccine if you're pregnant or breastfeeding we did answer that question short answer is yes. Okay what about people that suffer from lung issues that can borax buying health condition if you feel like you have cancer what about that I would say talk to your doctor first make sure if your doctor feels like it's okay I'm going to say generally speaking most people with cardiac and lung issues are the people who are most impacted by getting a very very sick from getting a covet infection so bad the nation is generally recommended to prevent you from having a very serious response to a covid infection but again just talk to your doctor if you feel at all like you have a condition that you're concerned about I think the question is also answer but when will they be available at Culver I soon as we can get them okay I've heard that the second dose makes you feel like you have the flu you should plan to take the day off of work can we make sure that there are enough subs for teachers that need to take a day off after being vaccinated and I know Jennifer D address I want teachers to have some sort of emergency asynchronous lessons ready to go because we may not have adequate coverage for that so we'll we'll get back to staff on what we need from them on that helpful we can also strategically play clinics on a Friday so that you have a weekend to kind of recover and and that's something else that we could you know we could offer some flexibility on when they're giving I would say we might be able to make ourselves available weekend if you want to come in but I'm not sure how that would how that would go over exactly but we we can see you know what maybe we'll take a poll once we get some some vaccines and we're looking at those those days and times okay how many people were studied in these clinical trials so any initial clinical trials I think it was over 70,000 people were included time and again varying ages races at the city's genders underlying medical conditions they try to include a lot of different people over over the age of 18 when I say over the age of 18 like I said though since they've started vaccinating across the country I mean we've done over nothing to million vaccines in California alone right so all of those people sort of now join in and all the data that was done for those 70,000 during the initial clinical trial so now we have millions of people who've been vaccinated in this country and we're looking at the data of how about those responses have been even since the clinical trials first started next question as someone who's nursing is there anything I need to do before or after getting the vaccine is there any evidence my baby will also get antibodies after I get the vaccine the great question I feel like I'm taking all the if anybody else wants to jump in please feel free but I'll I'll say I think that is something that we don't have a lot of information about and I think Sandy might have mentioned in the conversation about that pregnant women were not in secluded in the original clinical trials however many women got pregnant during their clinical and so we sort of ended up with some data about pregnancy and pregnant women and they have done studies in animals I think there's still a lot that we don't know about in terms of the effects of developing antibodies in in your baby if you if you got covid-19 if you get a colored vaccine those are still things being looked at I think what they tend to do is look at how do do pregnant women and babies respond to other vaccines and there's some similarities there so there's some assumptions that might be made to start some you know clinical trials and it's just something is being investigated so I wish I had more specific information about that but again if you're at all concerned I would say please reach out to your your physician or your pediatrician for your baby and find out if they have any concerns about you going forward with a vaccination okay this one's not a question but just want to say thank you to our amazing nurses thanks for okay next question if my family is not vaccinated and I am and I go to work can I be a symptom free carrier and get them infected I want to be your break on the process at one time and it felt layered there were layers so the vaccination that 94 to 95% but there's not enough data yet on the transmission which and whether or not you can transfer Methodist infection to others after you're vaccinated so that's why it's so important to take the appropriate precautions of wearing a 6-speed cuz we don't know yet how how if you can give infect others even though you're asymptomatic after getting a vaccination next one is you know we've never taken the covid-19 before so how do we know we have had a reaction to it so basically if we never had a reaction time this is going to be a new experience on how do we know the great question if you had your first dose you'll know if you had a reaction to it if you've never had a dose then I'm really just looking at the ingredients of the vaccine and to see if you've ever had any severe allergic responses to those and I think I mentioned in the board meeting and people went into but it's you know the same thing that's in your Colonoscopy prep you know the glycol Miralax stuff that has has in it so anyone who's taken those products if you had any severe allergic reaction to that then you would want to avoid getting a covid-19 for sure but I think sorry go ahead. I just know I was just going to say I think the other part of that is you know just also remember that we are all registered nurses we have the equipment on hand at the back a nation Clinic to respond to anyone who does have any severe reaction as do the providers you know at all of the the the big Mega pods so they are prepared to respond to emergency events and as are we on so just encourage you and reinforce the idea that it is you're in a safe place and you know that's why we keep you there to monitor so that we can make sure everything seems like it's going smoothly before we release you and you know it worth were there tomorrow at her for those those signs immediately following the injections thank you very much. Govt okay thank you is there a fee for badges no of course we're going to wait that one does an old badge work yes your name book that way anymore right not sure if this has been answered but if you get moderna vaccine to the second vaccine demon during a so basically if moderna moderna Pfizer Pfizer let's see if we have a pay stub do we need a badge I'm tryna gpusd and you know we're not quite exactly sure what you're going to come across at the Pod so to err on the side of caution I would work with HR to get that badge CCSD like Diana side we can we around me we just took getting a list of employees and that's the way that we would verify you but if you're not coming to our vaccine site I would have everything in order just to make sure it's a smooth process for you SML just tossing their badge is HR copies of paystubs business services so me for badges Robert Quinn for pay stubs and the reason for that is that at the pods they do require two forms not even just identifiers but two forms of qualifiers right so like your driver's license doesn't help you because it just has your name and your address and he's like that what they're looking for are you fall into a qualifying category and so that's why the badge is important like for us we had to show proof of our nursing license as a healthcare worker and and a bag or some other form of of I'm qualifying identify call find documentation that allowed us to get vaccinated along with healthcare workers I'm so I'm going to jump in because Robert just texted me and said that pay stub copies don't exist so knowing that I guess it pay attention to this webinar or if you review it later whenever you get your next pay stub hold on to it in case you need to go to an outside an external provider and you need that information I just want to Willow City staff and other staff and is working with children right now he considers me fascinated with the second dose on a Friday to avoid an overwhelming need a substitute for that one would you like we don't know yet if someone got the first back is being tested positive how long do they wait to get the second vaccine yeah so if you do get covid-19 faction after your first vaccine you do have to complete your complete isolation. So that's a minimum of 10 days starting from the day of your of the infection and symptoms have been proved so once that isolation. Is done then you can go and get your second boxing so it's 6:01 now I know that we have like a ton more questions can we capture these questions and then maybe put out a FAQ with the questions that take a lot of them were answered but just in case they weren't I'm going to get a snapshot of this if I can mostly there was one more time I'd like to answer before go just because I think there's a question just about if you're a teacher who's not tenured how you know will this impact your job if you aren't able to come back because of vaccinations or whatever and I just want to be really clear because I think you got a different cat the staff were like I'll come back on campus now and we've got people who have you know medical documentation in our our insignificant may be undergoing chemotherapy or whatever significant things going on in their lives right now that maybe regardless covid they need time off of work with people have childcare issues and then we know at you know what I'm not I don't want to sound insensitive but any of these things right we know that we also have some stuff we're just reasonably apprehensive about returning to work regardless of your status is if there's a medical and send her a medical documentation as a medical reason why you are unable to be at work for any reason under the law whether your temporary probationary permanent pray whatever. That's the law we we have to work with you and figure out how we can address that so I just want to be really clear that that nobody if someone has a medical reason to not be on campus they're not going to be penalized in terms of their job so but we'll have to work through depending what someone's individual circumstances are we will have to work through whether it's something that is reasonably accommodate and under the law or whether it has to be handled in a different way so also it does include coaches because we talk about anyone who's around in our students are eligible right so also are nurses rock you guys are awesome thank you wonderful presentation thank you so much nurses thank you thank you important to kind of give that cooter because you guys are awesome and we are so fortunate to have part of CCSD so thank you thank you thank you for taking good care of us and I think that is it a night thank you everyone joining us for coming Vicki superintendent Lockhart from
